What it is
Augmented Strings is a hybrid string instrument from Arturia that blends sampled real strings with synthesized sound sources. It draws on more than 60 articulations across solo and ensemble strings - violin, viola, cello, and double bass - and four synthesis engines (virtual analog, granular, harmonic, and wavetable) that can be layered and morphed together for orchestral, cinematic, and abstract string textures.
Who it's for
Composers and producers scoring film, trailer, and cinematic work who want string sounds that go beyond a straight sample library. Also a good fit for producers building evolving, textural string pads or hybrid orchestral-electronic tones for pop, ambient, and electronic tracks.
Key features
- Two layers per preset, each with two customizable sound sources for deep hybrid tone-shaping
- Four built-in synthesis engines - TAE virtual analog, granular, harmonic, and wavetable - blend with the sampled strings
- A morph control ties up to eight destinations together for expressive, real-time timbral movement
- Includes 250+ factory presets, a 16-step arpeggiator, MPE support, and MTS-ESP microtuning compatibility
