What it is

Bismuth is a harmonic resonator effect co-developed by Lunacy and EDM producer Virtual Riot. It works by introducing a bank of resonant filters tuned to specific chords and scales, converting almost any audio input into layered, tonal textures. The result sits somewhere between a pitch-shifted reverb, a chord generator, and a formant filter - it adds melodic content to sounds that don't inherently have it.

• The Chord Panel lets you tune Bismuth's resonators to any chord or scale, with Octave, Spread, Root, Attack, and Decay controls shaping voicing and character from sharp plucks to slow swells
• A built-in Arp cycles through chord notes at a free or tempo-synced rate, with Classic, Random, and Chord pattern modes
• The Spacing module warps and compresses resonant frequencies, while Drift and Shift spread the harmonic series for broader, less predictable textures
• Ships with 40 Bismuth presets and 50 BEAM presets crafted by Virtual Riot and other sound designers
