What it is
Dubious Electrics is a sample library of ten unconventional electric string instruments, each recorded with its real-world quirks intact - unusual tunings, imperfect wiring, and offbeat construction. The collection spans oddball basses (an extralow 5-string Washburn tuned an octave below standard, a classic Hagstrom 8-string, and Wurlitzer's take on the Bass VI), hollowbody and fretless guitars, a 12-string, and a solidbody electric banjo with a foam mute that doesn't quite work right. It loads in the free Plogue Sforzando sampler and delivers 6,135 samples adding up to 3.44 GB of WAV files.
Who it's for
Producers and composers who want electric textures that sound genuinely found rather than manufactured - particularly useful for lo-fi, indie, experimental, or cinematic work where a vintage or oddball instrument adds unexpected personality.
