GEKKO

The deal

$39.50 at Plugin Boutique (down from $79). The sale runs through November 30, 2026.

What it is

GEKKO is an optical compressor plugin from TAKUMI Audio Plugins that models the slow, smooth response of opto compression. It pairs the classic Peak Reduction and Gain controls with Ratio and Mix knobs, plus a VU meter and a built-in limiter section. The sound leans warm and gentle, the kind of leveling you reach for on vocals, bass and buses.

Who it's for

Producers and mixers who want a vintage-style opto compressor for vocals, bass, guitars or the mix bus. It also suits anyone who likes to blend compression in parallel with the Mix control.

Key features

• Three Cell Ages options shape how the optical cell responds, from new to vintage
• A PRO Panel adds Drive, Color and Noise controls for more analog character
• The built-in limiter has a ceiling control, True Peak and Soft modes
• The plugin includes a sidechain input with a filter and runs on macOS and Windows in VST3, AU (macOS) and AAX formats
