What it is
GeoShred Naada Gaohu for Mac is a physically modeled emulation of the gaohu, the high-pitched Chinese bowed string instrument in the huqin family (a smaller, brighter cousin of the erhu). Instead of triggering samples, it runs on moForte's AccelMatrix physical modeling engine, which recalculates the instrument's bowed-string behavior in real time as you play. That gives it continuous pitch glides, bow-pressure dynamics, and vibrato that respond directly to your performance rather than crossfading between fixed recordings.
Who it's for
Film, TV, and game composers who need an authentic East Asian string voice without hiring a session player, plus world-fusion and ambient producers using MPE keyboards, breath controllers, or other expressive MIDI hardware who want real glides and microtonal inflections instead of static samples.
Key features
- AccelMatrix physical modeling recreates bowed-string tone and articulation in real time instead of playing back recorded samples
- Full MPE and wind/breath controller support drives continuous pitch, vibrato, and dynamics from a single gesture
- Built-in microtonal tuning captures the sliding, in-between pitches central to traditional gaohu playing
- Runs inside moForte's GeoShred Studio, so it can layer with the rest of the Naada Instruments collection for larger world-instrument arrangements
