What it is
The Oberheim 8-Voice was a landmark synthesizer from the mid-1970s - eight individual Synthesizer Expander Modules (SEMs) stacked together, each with dual oscillators, a distinctive multi-mode filter, dual envelopes, and an LFO. GForce''s OB-E replicates all eight SEMs with the same architecture, right down to the subtle tuning drift and character differences between modules. V2 adds a Vintage control that introduces authentic analog variability across the voices, a refined detune parameter, and a Drum Mode with 10 dedicated drum kit presets. Tom Oberheim himself was involved in the development - which shows in the accuracy of the filter behavior.
Who it''s for
Producers who want the raw, slightly unstable sound of a classic 8-voice polysynth - leads, pads, and basses with real analog weight - will find the OB-E delivers it without the maintenance costs or reliability issues of vintage hardware. It sits in a different tonal space than most soft synths and stands out in a mix accordingly.
