LAM16

The deal

$19 at Plugin Boutique (down from $49). The sale runs through November 1, 2026.

What it is

LAM16 is a preamp plugin from Tone Empire that emulates the Langevin AM16, the Class-A transformer-balanced preamp used at Capitol Records. It is built around a discrete transistor circuit and aims for an open, airy top end with smooth transients and gentle saturation. The character leans toward vintage 1960s and 70s recordings.

Who it's for

Producers and mixers who want analog-style warmth and air on vocals, drum buses, and full mixes without hardware. It suits anyone chasing a classic studio preamp tone in the box.

Key features

• Class-A transformer-balanced design with a discrete transistor circuit
• Intelligent auto-oversampling at 96kHz for more authentic analog modeling
• A Zener diode mode adds harmonic saturation
• Available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats (64-bit)
