What it is
Oxford Dynamic EQ is a precision dynamic equalizer plugin from Sonnox, the studio brand behind the Oxford console EQ found in professional facilities worldwide. Unlike a static EQ, it applies frequency adjustments only when your audio crosses a threshold - combining the surgical precision of an EQ with the reactive behavior of a multiband compressor. Available in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX for both native systems and Pro Tools HD/HDX.
Who it's for
Mix engineers and mastering engineers who need transparent, frequency-specific dynamics control. It's the right tool for taming resonances that only appear under certain conditions, controlling sibilance contextually, or adding air and presence only when the material calls for it.
Key features
- Up to five fully independent dynamic EQ bands, each with its own threshold, ratio, attack, and release settings
- The Oxford algorithm delivers the same musical, low-distortion character that Sonnox's console-grade EQs are known for
- Can operate as a standard static EQ when the threshold is set wide open, making it a versatile everyday EQ as well
- Pro Tools HD/HDX version available separately for native AAX DSP environments
