What it is
Riffer 4 is the latest version of Audiomodern's MIDI riff generator, which has been around for over a decade. You pick a key and scale, generate a riff, then shape it by adjusting range, density, timing, and feel. This version has five separate generation engines, each with its own musical character, covering melodies, hooks, basslines, arpeggios, and guitar-style patterns.
Who it's for
Producers who get stuck staring at an empty piano roll and want a quick source of melodic and rhythmic starting points. It suits anyone writing in a DAW who wants editable MIDI to react to, rather than finished loops.
Key features
- Five distinct generation engines give different musical results instead of one generic randomizer
- You can edit every generated note directly and create variations of any riff
- Range, density, timing, and feel controls let you steer the output within a chosen key and scale
- Riffs export as MIDI so you can keep working in your own DAW and instruments
