What it is
Spectre is a multi-band enhancer from Wavesfactory that combines a 5-band parametric EQ with harmonic saturation. It splits the difference between the dry input and the EQ'd signal, runs that difference through one of 10 saturation algorithms modeled on classic hardware circuits (tube, tape, diode, digital, and more), then blends it back with the original. The effect adds harmonic color and perceived clarity rather than simply boosting frequencies with a standard EQ curve.
Who it's for
Mixing and mastering engineers who want to add analog-style warmth, presence, or grit to individual tracks, sub-mixes, or a full mix. It suits vocal, guitar, and bass processing where subtle harmonic enhancement matters more than aggressive EQ moves, and works equally well as a mastering tool on a stereo bus.
Key features
- Five parallel EQ bands, each independently routable to mono, stereo, left/right, or mid/side
- Ten selectable saturation algorithms - including Tube, Warm Tube, Tape, Diode, Class B, and Digital - each with subtle, medium, and aggressive intensity modes
- 4x and 16x oversampling options keep the added distortion clean at extreme settings
- A De-Emphasis mode compensates for EQ boosts applied before saturation, so enhancement doesn't just translate to more volume
