What it is

X-ValveComp is a channel compressor from Solid State Logic that pairs SSL's console-derived dynamics section with a valve emulation stage. Beyond standard peak/RMS compression with full threshold, ratio, knee, attack, release, and hold control, it adds a variable amount of 2nd-order harmonic saturation that thickens and colors whatever passes through it. The result is a compressor that can stay clean and surgical for gain control or get pushed into warm, tube-driven distortion for character, all within one plugin.
