What it is
Verticale is an intimate virtual upright piano built by Sonora Cinematic and delivered through Native Instruments' free Kontakt Player. It was sampled in two forms - a natural, pure tone and a felt-damped version recorded with four layers of felt, reportedly the only quadruple-felt piano on the market. A built-in "cassette" signal, created through tape speed manipulation, adds warped, lo-fi degradation for extra vintage character.
