What it is

BianZhong is a virtual instrument built from real recordings of ancient Chinese bianzhong bronze chime bells, sampled from the Hubei Provincial Museum's Marquis Yi of Zeng collection. These bells date back 2,000 to 3,600 years and were struck with mallets to produce distinct melodic pitches, making BianZhong a playable recreation of one of China's oldest known instruments.
