Broken Piano
The deal
$9.50 at Loot Audio (down from $19.00). The sale price runs until October 2, 2026.
What it is
Broken Piano is a Kontakt instrument built from an aging Baldwin piano that was found unrestorable and headed for life as a coffee table. Versilian Studios sampled it anyway, keeping the detuned, worn character that a pristine grand would never give you. It sounds haunting, wobbly and intimate, with plenty of mechanical personality.
Who it's for
Composers, film and game scorers, and producers who want a lo-fi, characterful piano for ambient, cinematic, indie or sound design work. Anyone who finds clean sampled grands too polished will get the most out of it.
Key features
- Original untuned, semi-tuned and FX patches live in a single keyswitchable instrument
- Three microphone positions (Main, Ribbon and Vintage) let you shape the tone
