What it is
Electric Taishogoto Vol 03 - Osaka Overdrive is a Kontakt instrument built from samples of an electric soprano taishogoto, a Japanese stringed instrument sometimes called the Nagoya harp, made in the early 1990s. This volume is the dirty one: the recordings were run through distortion pedals, 90s rack guitar effects and lo-fi processors, so it sounds gritty, noisy and a little damaged. It requires the full version of Kontakt 6.8 or higher and will not run in Kontakt Player.
Who it's for
Producers and composers who want an unusual plucked texture with real character, especially for ambient, film scoring, experimental and world music. It also suits anyone who wants a lo-fi, broken-sounding string layer that stock guitar libraries don't offer.
Key features
- The sampling includes four velocity layers and three round-robins
- Up and down plucks are recorded separately for a more natural feel
- Built-in controls include a 3-band EQ, a mastering compressor, delay, reverb and flanger effects, and two ADSR envelopes
- The download is about 5.3GB
