What it is
ENTROPY is a probabilistic bitcrusher from REVST that trades fixed bit-depth reduction for a controllable probability system. Instead of crushing every sample the same way, it decides when crushing happens, which of eight independent bit lanes participate, how long the crush lasts, and what parts of the signal get protected. Five crush modes (Flip, Drop, Set, Wrap, Mask) and glitch timing controls give it a much wider range than a standard bitcrusher.
Who it's for
Sound designers and producers working in glitch, IDM, industrial, or experimental electronic genres who want digital damage that feels alive rather than static. Also useful for anyone building drum bus or synth destruction chains who's tired of bitcrushers that only ever sound one way.
Key features
- Eight independent bit lanes each with their own crush probability
- Preserve controls that protect or target material by signal level
- Band mode routing for frequency-specific crushing
- Four built-in modulators with a route editor for animating any parameter over time
