What it is
The GForce Oberheim OB-1 recreates the 1978 Oberheim OB-1, historically significant as the world''s first programmable monophonic synthesizer. GForce built this in collaboration with Tom Oberheim and expanded it substantially beyond the original hardware: you get polyphony up to 16 voices, a new X-Modifier system for deep modulation, waveshaping, and a fully integrated arpeggiator and sequencer. The sound character is often described as bridging the warmth of a Minimoog with the aggressive edge of the MS-20 - full and rich in the low-mids with real bite when you push the filter.
Who it''s for
Techno and electro producers who want a versatile mono voice that can carry both hard-edged bass lines and melodic leads will get a lot from this. It''s also well-suited for underground and experimental electronic music producers who want historical Oberheim character without hunting for aging hardware.
Key features
- 2-pole or 4-pole filter with resonance plus a dedicated high-pass filter with keyboard tracking for tonal shaping
