What it is
MH Multiband Expander is a three-band dynamics processor from Metric Halo built for frequency-sensitive noise control. Each band runs an independent expander through a phase-coherent crossover network, so you can suppress hiss, bleed, or unwanted resonance in one frequency range without touching the rest of the signal. That band-specific approach lets you tame guitar amp hiss or drum bleed without gating the whole track, which is where broadband noise gates usually fall short. It includes a built-in SpectraFoo-powered spectrum analyzer and a dynamic transfer function display that shows exactly how the processing is shaping the signal in real time.
Who it's for
Mixing engineers dealing with noisy sources like hissy guitar amps, bleed-heavy drum mics, or hum-prone vocal takes. It also suits mastering engineers who need surgical control over problem frequencies without reaching for a full multiband compressor.
Key features
- Three independent expanders run through a phase-coherent crossover network for clean band splitting
- Master-slave linking lets one band's detector drive gain reduction across the others
- Built-in SpectraFoo spectrum analysis and a dynamic transfer function graph show the processing happening live
- Runs as VST, VST3, Audio Unit, and AAX, with the MH Preset Manager for syncing presets across DAWs and platforms
