What it is
Space Age Strings is a Kontakt instrument from Authentic Soundware's Space Age Orchestra line, built around a small violin section recorded with vintage midcentury studio techniques. Instead of a big modern cinematic sound, it leans into the warm, slightly worn character of classic film and lounge string sections, with five legato types, tremolo, trills, and a retro pizzicato all captured with performance-style repetitions. Note: it requires the full retail version of Kontakt 6.7 or later - it does not work with the free Kontakt Player.
Who it's for
Composers and producers chasing a vintage, midcentury string sound - retro film scores, lounge and exotica tracks, or any arrangement that wants character and charm over a polished modern sheen.
Key features
- Small section size built for an intimate studio sound rather than a full symphonic wall of strings
- Five legato types with user-defined velocity zones and optional speed detection for natural phrasing
- A Trills Arranger and Runs Arranger for playing polyphonic trills and performance-sampled runs in any key or scale from a single MIDI channel
- Five microphone positions plus onboard tape, echo, tone, and a custom retro reverb IR for shaping the vintage tone in-instrument
