The Antelope Audio Opto 2A is an emulation of the iconic 1950s optical compressor used on countless classic recordings. At its core is a virtual T4 optical attenuator - the same mechanism originally developed for military optical sensor applications - which produces the unit's distinctive two-stage release. With just Gain and Peak Reduction knobs plus a compressor/limiter switch, it delivers the exceptionally warm, gentle compression character that took decades to become a studio standard.
