What it is

MPC Spectral Compressor is a multiband dynamics plugin from Harrison, originally developed for film and post-production workflows. It splits the signal into 18 spectral bands and lets you apply independent gain reduction to each one. The master threshold spans -60 to 0 dB, six frequency range presets let you target broad areas quickly, and per-band depth sliders go from 0 to -24 dB. A compressor knee control and output trim round out the feature set, with a visual gain reduction graph showing what each band is doing in real time.

Mix engineers and producers who need precise frequency-specific dynamics control -- whether that's taming harshness in a vocal, controlling cymbal buildup on a drum bus, or managing sibilance on a dense mix bus. The spectral approach is more surgical than a traditional four or six-band multiband compressor, which makes it useful wherever a standard multiband leaves artifacts.
