What it is

PsyFreak is a VST/VST3 effect plugin from Alien Plugins that works as an inverted EQ. Instead of shaping a whole sound, it isolates chosen frequency ranges so you can hear only what sits inside them. Think of it as a spectral spotlight for sound design, mix diagnosis and creative weirdness.

Who it's for

Sound designers, mix engineers and psytrance producers who want to hear what is hiding in specific parts of the spectrum, or who want a strange, resonant texture-making tool.

Key features

• Four adjustable frequency windows can be loaded from 50 curated exhibits across four categories: Anatomy, Illusions, Mystic and Sacred Frequencies
• Windows can be dragged, morphed and drifted in sync with the tempo in real time
• Key Lock, Freak Keys (MIDI control) and Inverse mode add extra ways to play the filter
• Slopes range from 12 to 96 dB per octave with zero latency
