What it is
The UADx Ruby '63 Top Boost Amplifier is UA's emulation of the Vox AC30 Top Boost, the British valve amp behind some of the most recognizable guitar tones in rock history. It models three distinct tone modes - Normal, Brilliant, and Vibrato - each with different frequency response and harmonic character. The plugin is based on the same modeling technology used in UA's award-winning UAFX hardware pedal, and it includes six speaker cabinet setups with different microphone and room pairings covering Silver, Blue, Green, Blue Mod, Match, and Gold voicings.
Who it's for
Guitarists and producers working with electric guitar who want the chime, sparkle, and natural breakup of a classic British valve amp. It covers clean tones with top-end clarity and pushed tones with the harmonic richness that comes from genuine class-A tube saturation.
Key features
- Three tone flavors (Normal, Brilliant, Vibrato) give substantially different frequency responses - Brilliant is the classic bright AC30 sound, Normal is warmer and darker, Vibrato adds the channel's tremolo circuit character
- Built-in vintage boost options include a 1960s Dallas Rangemaster germanium treble booster and the preamp stage of a 1970s Maestro EP-3 tape delay, both modeled in the circuit
- Six speaker cabinet configurations with microphone and room pairings let you match the cab sound to the track without a separate IR loader
- No Apollo hardware required - runs natively in any DAW
