Key Features

  • Three modulatable oscillators combine basic waveforms and synthesis methods including FM and ring modulation.
  • A waveshaper, eight filter types, and an independent resonator expand tonal shaping.
  • LFOs, freeform envelopes, MIDI events, and random generators provide flexible modulation sources.
  • Microtuning and scale morphing support exploration beyond standard tuning.
  • Four-part multitimbral operation and up to 16 voices support layered arrangements.
  • Eleven effects include delay, reverb, chorus, flanger, phaser, and EQ, with two effects available in series.
  • The 545 factory presets and random preset generator provide starting points for sound design.

Description

AnaMark is a Windows VST synthesizer by Mark Henning that combines three oscillators, flexible modulation, and alternative tuning tools for electronic sound design. Its factory library spans pads, leads, basses, percussion, effects, and retro-inspired sounds, offering starting points for both conventional and unusual patches.

Each oscillator draws on 52 basic waveforms, and pairs of waveforms can be combined to create a much larger selection. The oscillator signals can also interact through methods including FM, phase modulation, and ring modulation, giving a patch more possibilities than simple mixing alone.

A waveshaper, eight filter types, and a separate resonator provide further tonal shaping. LFOs, freeform envelopes, MIDI events, and random generators can act as modulation sources, while two of the eleven onboard effects can be chained.

AnaMark supports microtuning and morphing between scales, making it useful for exploring intervals beyond standard equal temperament. Its four-part multitimbral operation and 16-voice polyphony offer additional flexibility when arranging layered or contrasting sounds.

This is a legacy 32-bit Windows VST instrument, so check whether your host can load 32-bit plugins or requires a bridge. The developer offers a manual installation download and recommends that method for Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 8; compatibility with newer systems is not stated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can AnaMark use alternative tunings?

Yes. The developer lists microtuning and scale morphing, allowing users to explore scales beyond standard equal temperament and fade between scales.

How do I install the full version?

The developer offers a manual setup ZIP for extraction into the VST plugin folder. The automatic setup instead requires both the setup program and the separately unpacked DLL; the developer recommends manual installation for Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 8.

Can AnaMark play more than one sound at a time?

Yes. It supports four-part multitimbral operation and also provides a monotimbral mode, with polyphonic and monophonic playing modes.

Where are the factory preset banks?

A user on the discovery listing notes that additional ROM banks can be loaded from the MISC tab using the Load ROM-Bank control. The developer lists 545 factory presets in total.
