Description

BasiQ2 Equalizer is Kuassa's updated Baxandall-style tone-shaping plugin for broad, musical EQ moves in Windows and macOS DAWs. It keeps the original BasiQ idea of simple low, mid, and high tone control, then adds modern workflow features for faster sweetening on individual tracks, buses, and full mixes.

The core sound is built around classic shelving curves with a smooth slope and wide bandwidth, so boosts and cuts feel more like a hi-fi tone control than a surgical parametric EQ. Kuassa positions it for neutral tonal balancing, presence boosts, mid cleanup, and bass shaping where natural results matter more than narrow corrective notches.

Version 2 expands the old three-knob layout with high-pass and low-pass filters, preset management, A/B comparison, a resizable interface, and both dark and light modes. The interface can also switch between landscape and portrait orientations, which makes it easier to fit on crowded laptop sessions or larger mix screens.

As checked on May 27, 2026, Kuassa lists BasiQ2 at $0 and provides direct Windows and macOS installers from its downloads page. The official downloads page shows current version 2.0.3, while the product page lists VST, VST3, AU, and AAX support plus Apple Silicon compatibility for macOS.

Frequently Asked Questions

What changed from the original BasiQ?

BasiQ2 is a redesigned update to Kuassa's original three-band Baxandall equalizer. It adds a resizable interface, dark and light modes, portrait and landscape layouts, high-pass and low-pass filters, preset management, and A/B comparison.

Is BasiQ2 meant for surgical EQ corrections?

No. BasiQ2 is designed for broad tone shaping and sweetening rather than narrow notches or detailed frequency repair. Its Baxandall-style curves are best for natural low-end weight, top-end openness, and overall tonal balance.

Can BasiQ2 be used on a mix bus or master bus?

Yes. Kuassa describes BasiQ2 as suitable for mixing and mastering because of its neutral response and wide bandwidth. It works well for subtle final tonal moves when you want broad polish instead of aggressive correction.

Does BasiQ2 require a Kuassa account?

The installers are available directly from Kuassa's downloads page without an account gate. Kuassa also links the product's $0 license redemption through its member area, so users who want a registered license may still use a Kuassa account.
