Key Features

  • Morphable nonlinear ladder filter that can move between lowpass, highpass, bandpass, peak, and intermediate shapes
  • Six character modes plus clean operation for subtle warmth, heavier drive, fuzz, chew, and folded distortion
  • Built-in modulation for cutoff, resonance, drive, gain, and filter shape with oscillator, envelope, and audio-rate sidechain options
  • Tempo-syncable oscillator modulation for rhythmic filter movement and sound-design sweeps
  • Adjustable oversampling quality for balancing alias reduction against CPU usage
  • Safety limiter, global mix control, and per-channel processing for left, right, mid, side, or stereo operation
  • Resizable minimal interface with dark, light, and simple color schemes plus optional frequency and gain guides

Description

BlepFX Filtrr is a nonlinear ladder filter and saturation effect for turning ordinary filter movement into animated, driven tone shaping. It can morph between lowpass, highpass, bandpass, peak, and in-between shapes while adding clean, warm, fuzzy, folded, or more destructive nonlinear color.

The core workflow is fast: drag the visual cutoff and gain handles, set resonance, choose a drive character, then blend the result with the global mix control. That makes it useful for classic sweeps, resonant synth-style movement, drum mangling, bass thickening, and more aggressive audio destruction.

Filtrr also goes deeper than a simple filter plugin because its modulation system can target cutoff, resonance, drive, gain, and filter shape. Internal oscillator, envelope, sidechain envelope, and audio-rate sidechain modulation let it move from subtle auto-filter behavior into FM-like sound design.

The extra controls keep the chaos practical. Oversampling quality, a default-on safety limiter, per-channel processing, dark/light/simple UI modes, spectrum guides, and a freely resizable interface make the plugin easier to use when resonance and drive start getting loud.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Filtrr work as both a subtle filter and a destructive effect?

Yes. The official page and source article describe clean and warm modes for smoother filtering, but also fuzz, chew, and fold modes for more aggressive coloration. The mix control and safety limiter help keep stronger settings usable.

What can Filtrr modulate internally?

BlepFX lists cutoff, resonance, drive, gain, and filter shape as modulation targets. The modulation sources include oscillator shapes, input or sidechain envelope following, and audio-rate sidechain input.

Does Filtrr include direct manual installers?

Yes. BlepFX provides a separate install page with Windows, macOS, and Linux downloads, plus quick-install shell commands for macOS and Linux. This artifact keeps the downloads external because this unattended run was instructed not to upload or verify production R2 download objects.

Are AAX or VST2 builds available?

No. The BlepFX FAQ says the plugins support VST3, AUv2, and CLAP, and that AAX and VST2 are not supported because of licensing issues.
