Description
Deep Jupiter by SampleScience is a ROMpler-style bass instrument built from eight multi-sampled patches of a Roland Jupiter-8 analog synthesizer. The samples capture the raw, warm low-end character that made the original hardware a go-to for bass lines in electronic music.
The plugin goes beyond simple sample playback with a built-in switchable lowpass/highpass filter, a multi-wave LFO, an amplitude ADSR envelope, and glide control. A pan knob and internal reverb effect round out the sound-shaping options, letting you push patches from dry and tight to wide and atmospheric.
Three voice modes cover different playing styles: polyphonic for chords, monophonic for punchy single-note lines, and legato for smooth portamento transitions. CPU usage stays low thanks to the sample-based engine, making it practical for large sessions.
The eight included patches focus specifically on bass timbres rather than trying to recreate the full Jupiter-8 range. Each one is multi-sampled across the keyboard for consistent tone and velocity response, giving you a curated set of analog bass sounds ready for synthwave, retrowave, chillwave, and synthpop productions.
Deep Jupiter is available as a 64-bit VSTi, VST3, and AU plugin for Windows and macOS. The total download size is approximately 97 MB.

Frequently Asked Questions
What synthesizer is Deep Jupiter based on?
Deep Jupiter is based on the Roland Jupiter-8, an analog polysynth released in 1981 that became one of the most sought-after synthesizers for its warm, rich bass and pad sounds. The plugin uses eight public domain multi-sampled Jupiter-8 patches as its sound source.
Can Deep Jupiter produce sounds other than bass?
Deep Jupiter is specifically focused on bass timbres sampled from the Roland Jupiter-8. While you can shape the sound with the built-in filter, LFO, and envelope controls, the eight included patches are all bass-oriented rather than covering pads, leads, or other synth categories.
Does Deep Jupiter support VST3 format?
Yes, Deep Jupiter runs as a 64-bit VSTi, VST3, and AU plugin. This covers compatibility with all major DAWs on both Windows and macOS, including newer hosts that require VST3.
What is the difference between the three voice modes in Deep Jupiter?
Polyphonic mode lets you play chords and multiple notes simultaneously. Monophonic mode restricts output to a single note at a time for tighter, punchier bass lines. Legato mode also plays one note but adds smooth pitch gliding between notes using the glide control.
