Key Features

  • Interactive XY pad for simultaneous real-time control of pitch and delay time across both stereo channels
  • Independent left/right channel parameters when link mode is disabled, enabling asymmetric stereo delay and pitch effects
  • Adjustable feedback control that pushes pitched delays into metallic, shimmering, and sci-fi territory
  • Large Dry/Wet knob for easy effect blending and DAW automation of wet/dry transitions
  • Stereo multi-effect design combining delay and pitch shifting in a single lightweight plugin
  • Built with Csound, included in the installer package for systems that do not already have it

Description

Delay&Pitch by Mario Nieto is a stereo multi-effect plugin that combines delay and pitch shifting into a single creative tool. Built around an interactive XY pad, it lets you manipulate pitch variation, delay time, and feedback for both left and right channels simultaneously or independently.

The XY pad maps pitch to the X axis and time to the Y axis, giving you real-time gestural control over the effect. Disabling the link mode unlocks individual parameter adjustment for each stereo channel, opening up asymmetric delay and pitch combinations that produce wide, immersive textures.

Cranking the feedback with pitched delays yields results ranging from metallic resonances and shimmering overtones to full-on sci-fi sound design. A large Dry/Wet knob at the bottom of the interface makes it easy to blend the effect and automate transitions within your DAW.

The plugin was developed using Csound, a powerful open-source audio programming environment that ships with the installer if you do not already have it on your system. It is available as a 64-bit VST2 on Windows and AU/VST on macOS, though VST3 is not currently supported.

Delay&Pitch leans heavily into experimentation and creative sound mangling rather than precise technical processing. It sits well on synths, guitars, vocals, and drum buses where unpredictable pitched echoes can add movement and character to a mix.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Delay&Pitch require Csound to be installed separately?

No. Csound is bundled with the Delay&Pitch installer. If you do not already have Csound on your system, it will be installed automatically alongside the plugin.

Can you control the left and right delay channels independently?

Yes. By disabling the link mode, you can adjust pitch, time, and feedback separately for the left and right channels. This enables asymmetric stereo effects that create wide, immersive textures.

Does Delay&Pitch support VST3?

No. The current beta version supports 64-bit VST2 on Windows and AU/VST on macOS. VST3 is not available at this time.

What kind of effects can you create with high feedback settings?

Pushing the feedback with pitched delays produces a range of results from metallic resonances and shimmering overtones to chaotic sci-fi textures. It is well suited for sound design and experimental production rather than clean, technical delay work.
