Description

Dimension is a chorus and pseudo-stereo effect from Tribe Instruments for turning a mono source into a wider, deeper signal or adding more spread to an existing stereo part. Its controls center on high-pass filtering, wash, and width, with a goniometer to show the amount of stereo effect being created.

The high-pass control is especially useful when widening material with substantial bass content, because it lets you keep low-frequency phase interactions out of the effect. Wash sets the sense of depth, while Width moves the result from restrained enhancement toward a more obvious chorus-style spread.

This is not just a fixed vintage preset: Dimension can be used subtly for vocals, electric piano, guitars, snares, and pads, or pushed harder for more animated modulation. The accompanying demos make the dry-versus-wet change easy to hear on musical sources.

Dimension runs in modern 64-bit DAWs on macOS and Windows, with VST3, Audio Unit, and AAX formats listed by the developer. The current download flow is delivered after newsletter signup from Tribe Instruments' individual Dimension page.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Dimension do to a mono signal?

Dimension creates a pseudo-stereo effect that can make a mono source feel wider and deeper. It can also be used to expand the image of an already stereo signal.

How can Dimension avoid low-end phase problems?

The plug-in includes a high-pass filter specifically intended to prevent low-frequency phase issues in the widening effect. That makes it practical to keep the effect focused on the frequencies where added width is most useful.

Is Dimension only for subtle stereo widening?

No. Tribe Instruments describes it as usable with moderation for stereo expansion or more aggressively as a chorus pedal. The Wash and Width controls determine how obvious the effect becomes.

How is the Dimension download delivered?

The official Dimension page presents a newsletter signup form and says to check email to download the plug-in. The download is therefore email-gated rather than an immediately visible installer link.
