Description

H is a tone and loudness enhancer built by Fabio "Shadaloo" Caterino, an Italian multi-platinum certified mix and mastering engineer who originally designed the plugin for his own sessions. Rather than functioning as a traditional saturator or clipper, it uses multi-stage processing where every control interacts nonlinearly, producing context-dependent harmonic shaping that responds dynamically to the input signal.

The Push control drives the signal from gentle enhancement through to obvious saturation using quintic clipping and level-dependent shaping. Five Color modes — Smooth, Soft, Edge, Grit, and Crush — act as macros that alter the harmonic structure and frequency-dependent behavior in a single click, making it fast to dial in the right character for any source.

The Blend control is specifically tuned for parallel-style processing, letting you add harmonic density and presence while preserving the source material's integrity. Combined with up to 4x oversampling to prevent aliasing artifacts, H keeps results musical and controlled even at aggressive settings.

Peak and RMS metering modes allow accurate output level comparison, and the Output control works together with Push for clean gain staging. The result is a plugin that adds perceived loudness, density, and harmonics without the harshness that many saturation tools introduce at higher drive levels.

The current Windows build is not yet digitally signed, so your system may display a security warning during installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is H different from a traditional saturator or clipper?

H is a multi-stage processor where all controls interact nonlinearly and respond to the input signal's level and frequency content. This means the harmonic character changes dynamically as you adjust settings, rather than applying a fixed saturation curve like most saturators do.

What do the five Color modes do?

The Color modes (Smooth, Soft, Edge, Grit, Crush) work as macro presets that alter the harmonic structure and frequency-dependent behavior simultaneously. They range from subtle warmth (Smooth) to aggressive distortion character (Crush), letting you quickly find the right tone without tweaking multiple parameters.

Why does Windows show a security warning when installing H?

The current Windows build is not yet digitally signed. This is common with new independent plugin releases and simply means Windows SmartScreen cannot verify the publisher. You can proceed with the installation safely by clicking through the warning.

Can H be used for parallel saturation processing?

Yes, the Blend control is specifically designed for parallel-style processing. It lets you mix the processed signal with the dry signal internally, so you can add harmonic density and presence without needing external routing or auxiliary sends in your DAW.
