Description

Pantomime 4 is a character synth plugin from Majetone built from re-amped and recorded source material rather than plain oscillator models. The instrument turns classic waveforms, tape-affected tones, and odd keyboard-style sources into playable patches with a deliberately physical, studio-captured edge.

The core library combines 25 waveforms and instruments, including the original Pantomime sources plus 13 additions in version 1.0.3. Majetone frames the plugin as an updated continuation of earlier free instruments such as The Jazzman and Freedbaker, with the same rough-edged personality brought into a modern VST3, AU, and AAX instrument.

Sound design is centered on fast tone shaping rather than a blank modular canvas. You get more than 100 custom presets, 10 custom reverbs, waveform blending, distortion, analog-modeled delay, arpeggiation, velocity shaping, EQ, modulation, and convolution spaces for turning compact source sounds into pads, keys, drones, and lo-fi textures.

The official product page currently lists Pantomime 4 at 0.00 GBP, marks it available, and links to a public download page for macOS and Windows installers plus the shared sample archive. The lead article contains an expired-offer update, so this page is flagged for human review even though Majetone now presents the product itself as free.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pantomime 4 a Kontakt library or a plugin?

Pantomime 4 is distributed as a plugin, not as a Kontakt-only library. Majetone mentions earlier Kontakt instruments in the product story, but the current download page provides VST3 for Windows and VST3, AU, and AAX for macOS.

Why does the source article say the offer expired?

The BPB article includes an update saying the original holiday email-subscriber offer expired. The official Majetone product page now lists Pantomime 4 as available at 0.00 GBP and explicitly says the product is free, so the official page was used for the current availability decision.

Do the installers include the sample content?

Majetone separates the plugin installer from the sample archive. The download page has a macOS installer, a Windows installer, and one shared Pantomime 4 Samples v103 ZIP that users need alongside the plugin.

What kinds of sounds does Pantomime 4 focus on?

The library leans into re-amped waveforms, tape-influenced sources, odd keyboard colors, pads, drones, and textured playable presets. It is better suited to character parts than clean bread-and-butter subtractive synth programming.
