Key Features

  • Couples feedback-style compression with Tanh waveshaping so dynamics and harmonic color influence one another.
  • Drive and Power controls set the amount and contour of the distortion curve, from softer warmth to harder edge.
  • Threshold, VU, Attack, Gap, Release, and Knee shape the compressor's sensitivity and movement.
  • Processes left, right, mid, and side paths for stereo-aware color and linking control.
  • Low-pass filtering helps tame the affected signal, while makeup gain restores level after processing.
  • Para and Mix controls support parallel compression; Mix can introduce polarity-flipped dry signal above 100%.
  • Optional 8x oversampling is available in the processing path.

Description

Olitanh is a character compressor and Tanh waveshaper built for adding density, harmonic edge, and stereo presence in one processor. It can move from a gently warmed bass, guitar, or vocal to a more obviously driven parallel effect, while its feedback-style interaction keeps the compression tied to the altered signal rather than treating saturation as a separate afterthought.

Drive feeds the waveshaper, while Power changes the curve from softer to harder behavior. Threshold, Attack, Release, VU, Gap, and Knee then shape how the compressor responds, so it can act as a broad glue processor or lean into more animated gain reduction.

Olitanh also gives you LRMS channel linking, a low-pass Filter for managing the distorted component, makeup gain, and a Para control for bringing in the compressed signal. The Mix control reaches beyond a conventional dry/wet balance: above 100%, it introduces polarity-flipped dry signal for more forceful parallel treatments.

The internal path derives Mid and Side alongside left and right channels, then processes those paths through optional 8x oversampling, gain reduction, waveshaping, level detection, filtering, and downsampling. That makes it an especially distinctive choice when a mix-bus or individual source needs compression with audible texture rather than transparent control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Olitanh mainly a compressor or a distortion effect?

It is designed as a combined character processor: the developer describes distortion and compression as interdependent. Its Drive and Power controls set the waveshaping behavior, while the remaining dynamics controls determine how that altered signal is compressed.

What does the Mix control do above 100%?

The official documentation says that values above 100% add polarity-flipped dry signal. This can make an effect-led parallel treatment more pronounced; at ordinary settings, 100% remains the typical fully processed balance.

Can Olitanh be used for parallel processing?

Yes. Para blends the compressor from off to full, and Mix provides dry-to-wet control, with the extended range available for more forceful treatments.

Why might Olitanh use more CPU at its highest-quality setting?

Its processing path includes an optional 8x oversampling mode. A KVR user review specifically notes higher CPU use with oversampling, so it is sensible to compare the setting against the needs of the session.
