Description
Oxo Synth2 is an open-source virtual analog synthesizer from Oxo Music that recreates Daichi Laboratory’s Synth1 for modern Mac and iPad workflows. It loads Synth1 patches and zip banks, making it useful for revisiting an existing sound library.
The instrument combines two oscillators and a sub oscillator with FM, ring modulation, hard sync and noise. Five filter types, three envelopes and two LFOs give you a familiar subtractive synthesis layout for shaping basses, leads and pads.
A tempo-synced arpeggiator can play across up to four octaves, while mono, legato and polyphonic modes support different playing styles. Unison adds up to eight voices with detune and spread controls for wider sounds.
The effects section includes distortion, a decimator, ring modulation, compression and phasers, alongside delay and chorus/flanger. MIDI Learn lets you assign controls to hardware, and built-in themes and a theme editor let you change the interface.
Oxo Synth2 is an independent recreation rather than an official Synth1 update. The Mac edition comes in VST3 and AU formats, while the iPad AUv3 edition requires a compatible host; Windows is still in development.
