Description
Panagement Free Edition by Auburn Sounds is a binaural spatialization plugin that gives you precise control over stereo positioning and depth. At its core is a combined binaural panner and distance fader, letting you place any sound anywhere on the virtual stage with a single XY pad.
The binaural panner moves tracks left and right using psychoacoustic processing rather than simple volume balancing, creating a convincing sense of directionality. The distance fader pushes sounds further away or pulls them closer, complete with automatic early reflections in version 2 that add realism without any additional setup.
Beyond positioning, the plugin includes a width control for adjusting stereo spread and a tilt filter for shifting spectral balance between lows and highs. An LFO section can modulate pan position, distance, and gain for automated spatial movement, from subtle drifts to dramatic circular panning.
The reverb engine uses a sparse, reality-inspired algorithm rather than the diffuse wash typical of most reverbs. This approach preserves headroom and sits naturally in a dense mix, even on the master bus.
A built-in phasescope gives immediate visual feedback on mono compatibility. Auburn Sounds engineered the entire signal path for transparency, with latency as low as three samples and gentle filtering to minimize phase distortion.
The free edition includes the binaural panner, distance fader, width, tilt, reverb, LFO, and visualization tools. Only the binaural delay and PGMT-400 chip module are reserved for the paid version.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Panagement Free Edition and the Full version?
The Free Edition includes the binaural panner, distance fader, width, tilt, reverb, LFO, and visualization tools. The Full version adds a binaural delay module with reverb-in-feedback-loop capability and the PGMT-400 chip module.
Can Panagement be used for orchestral or cinematic mixing?
Yes, Panagement is particularly effective for placing virtual instruments in a realistic acoustic space. Orchestral composers use it to simulate front-to-back depth and left-right positioning that would otherwise require separate reverb sends and careful panning automation.
Does Panagement work well on headphones or only on speakers?
Panagement uses binaural processing, which means the spatial positioning is most pronounced on headphones. However, the plugin also produces convincing results on speakers thanks to its combined approach of binaural cues, distance modeling, and reverb.
Does Panagement introduce latency into the signal chain?
Panagement adds only three samples of latency, making it one of the lowest-latency spatial processors available. This makes it practical for use during tracking and live monitoring, not just mixing.
