Description
Pedals by ToneBytes is a guitar amp and effects processor that packs 20 stompbox models, two amplifier heads, seven speaker cabinets, and three rack units into one visual pedalboard interface. The plugin is designed for electric guitar and bass processing, though it handles other audio sources for creative sound design work.
The drag-and-drop GUI recreates a realistic pedalboard layout where you chain effects in any order. Available stompboxes cover delay, chorus, phaser, flanger, reverb, tremolo, vibrato, filter, autowah, equalizer, tube overdrive, fuzz, octaver, and pitch shifter, giving you a full rig without leaving your DAW.
Each modeled device follows the working principles of real analog hardware while maintaining its own distinct tonal character. The built-in preset manager lets you save and share complete signal chain configurations with other Pedals users.
Full VST automation and MIDI learn support make it straightforward to map hardware controllers to any parameter. A cosmetic touch lets you swap the floor material beneath the pedals between house parquet, metal garage, and studio carpet.
Pedals has been tested across Cubase, Sonar, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Orion, and Reaper. Note that the plugin is Windows-only and available exclusively as a 32-bit VST, with the last update (version 0.92) released in September 2012.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Pedals work on macOS or as a 64-bit plugin?
Pedals is Windows-only and available exclusively as a 32-bit VST. There is no macOS, 64-bit, VST3, or AU version. You can run it in a 64-bit DAW using a bridge like jBridge or the built-in bridging in some hosts.
Is Pedals still being updated by ToneBytes?
No. The last version (0.92) was released in September 2012 and the plugin is no longer in active development. The existing version remains available for download and continues to work in compatible DAW environments.
Can Pedals be used on audio sources other than guitar?
Yes. While designed primarily for electric guitar and bass, Pedals can process any audio signal routed through it. Producers use it on synths, vocals, and drums for creative distortion, filtering, and modulation effects.
How does the preset system work in Pedals?
Pedals includes a built-in preset manager that saves your entire signal chain configuration, including which stompboxes are active, their order, and all parameter settings. Presets can be exported and shared with other Pedals users.
