Key Features

  • Three cascaded state-variable filter stages create more complex motion than a single auto-filter or static EQ band.
  • Each filter can be configured as low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, or band-reject for broad tone shaping and resonant effects.
  • Per-stage LFOs offer sine, saw, ramp, triangle, pulse, white noise, and perlin noise waveforms with syncable rate and depth controls.
  • Attack/decay envelope sections can run in free or sync mode and trigger from pulse or incoming audio for dynamic filter movement.
  • Dry/wet, filter-bias, and A/B blend controls let you morph between two different filter settings from the output panel.
  • Included preset bank gives quick starting points for cascades, reversing effects, crossing bands, and low-volume resonance patches.
  • Direct VST3 and AU zip downloads cover Windows and Mac workflows without requiring an account or email signup.

Description

ShallowGrave by Decadebridge is a cascaded filter effect built around three state-variable filters for animated tone shaping, rhythmic sweeps, and unstable sound-design movement. Each filter can work as a low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, or band-reject stage, with cutoff and resonance controls for shaping the chain from subtle color to aggressive resonance.

The plugin goes deeper than a basic auto-filter by giving each stage its own LFO and attack/decay envelope section. The LFOs include multiple waveform choices, host sync, phase, shape, rate, and depth controls, while the envelopes can run freely or sync to tempo and trigger from pulse or incoming audio.

The right-side output section adds dry/wet control, per-filter bias, and an A/B blend knob for morphing between two filter setups. That makes ShallowGrave useful for pads, arpeggios, sequenced synths, broken beats, and any source that needs evolving movement rather than static EQ.

The official Decadebridge page still says ShallowGrave is completely free to download and provides direct VST3 and AU zip files with no account flow. Mac users should review the developer warning, because the page notes reported compatibility issues on some systems and says testing was done on an Intel-based MacBook.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes ShallowGrave different from a normal filter plugin?

ShallowGrave stacks three state-variable filters in a cascaded chain instead of giving you one cutoff stage. Each stage has its own modulation options, so the result can move, overlap, and morph in ways that a simple one-knob filter usually cannot.

Can ShallowGrave react to incoming audio?

Yes. BPB notes that the attack/decay envelope section can be triggered by audio, with an additional sensitivity control for how the envelope responds to the input signal.

What formats are included?

The official Decadebridge page provides a VST3 zip for Windows and Mac, plus an AU zip for Mac. The downloaded VST3 archive contains both Mac and Windows VST3 binaries.

Are there any known compatibility concerns?

Yes. Decadebridge warns that some users have reported issues with the Mac versions on certain systems and says the plugin was tested on an Intel-based MacBook.
