Description
Studio Devil BVC (British Valve Custom) is a guitar amp modeling plugin that recreates the character of classic British-style vacuum tube amplifier heads. Built on Studio Devil's ToneBrain technology, it delivers authentic 12AX7A preamp tube tone with adjustable power amp compression and a matched 4x12 cabinet emulation.
The controls mirror a real amp head: Gain, Bass, Mids, Treble, Presence, and Drive. The gain structure is modeled after iconic British valve heads with subtle modifications for slightly more saturation on tap.
A dedicated Drive knob lets you dial in natural power amp compression, from clean breakup to full crunch. The dynamic response tracks your playing velocity faithfully, cleaning up with lighter picking and breaking into overdrive when you dig in.
BVC processes audio with 4x oversampling at 64-bit floating-point precision, supporting sample rates from 44.1 kHz up to 192 kHz. This keeps the tone smooth and alias-free even at high gain settings.
While primarily designed for direct-recording electric guitar, BVC also handles bass guitar and any source that benefits from natural tube overdrive and distortion. The built-in cabinet simulation means you can go straight from your audio interface into the plugin with no additional processing needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Studio Devil BVC include a cabinet simulation?
Yes, BVC has a built-in 4x12 cabinet emulation. You can plug your guitar directly into your audio interface and use BVC without needing a separate cabinet simulator or impulse response loader.
Can Studio Devil BVC be used for bass guitar?
Yes. While BVC is primarily designed for electric guitar amp modeling, Studio Devil states it works well on bass guitar and any other audio source that benefits from natural tube overdrive and distortion.
What amp style does Studio Devil BVC emulate?
BVC is modeled after classic British valve (tube) amplifier heads in the style of Marshall, with the gain structure tuned for slightly more saturation than a stock British head. It covers clean breakup through full high-gain crunch territory.
Does BVC support RTAS format for Pro Tools?
Yes. On Windows, BVC supports VST and RTAS formats. On macOS, it supports VST, Audio Units, and RTAS. Note that RTAS is a legacy format; modern Pro Tools versions use AAX, which is not supported by BVC.
