VRAC
Key Features
- Turns imported source audio into playable drum material instead of relying only on stock one-shot samples.
- XY drumification control morphs continuously between kick, snare, hat, and clap models.

- Global drumification shapes the full kit while per-pad controls keep individual hits more or less processed.
- Per-pad pitch and pan controls create variation from a single source sound.
- Before-and-after examples on the official page show how non-drum sources can become punchier percussion.

Description
VRAC is a sample-based drum machine from Beatsurfing that turns a dropped sound into a playable kit. Instead of browsing folders for matching one-shots, you feed it source audio, set the sample start, and shape the result toward kick, snare, hat, or clap behavior.
The core control is an XY drumification space that moves continuously between those drum models. That makes VRAC useful for hybrid percussion, because the interesting results often sit between obvious categories rather than on a single preset drum type.
Each loaded sound becomes a small drum kit with multiple pads and per-pad variation. The Global and Per Pad sections let you push the whole kit into stronger drum character while keeping individual pads cleaner, pitched, panned, or less processed.
Beatsurfing positions VRAC as a quick experimental instrument for studio and stage use, with VRAC Pro planned separately for deeper features such as auto-slicing, input recording, 16 pads, advanced settings, and multi-out. The current VRAC page lists it as FREE, and independent coverage confirms AU, VST3, and AAX support for macOS and Windows.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can VRAC use custom samples?
Yes. Independent coverage notes that you can drag and drop any sample straight into VRAC, which is central to the plugin's workflow. The official page also describes dropping a sample and shaping each hit from that source.
What does the XY drumification control do?
The XY control lets you move between kick, snare, hat, and clap articulations rather than choosing one fixed drum model. That continuous space is useful when you want hybrid hits that do not sound like a standard drum-machine preset.
How is VRAC different from a normal drum sampler?
A normal drum sampler usually maps existing drum sounds to pads. VRAC is built around transforming almost any source sound into drum-like material, then letting you vary the generated kit with global and per-pad shaping.
Does VRAC require a Beatsurfing account?
The official page shows an Add to cart flow and the installation instructions say downloads are available from a Beatsurfing account. That means users should expect to complete the account-based checkout before accessing the installers and license.
