Description

Ambience by OTODESK is a Windows algorithmic reverb built around a 16-channel Feedback Delay Network. Instead of relying on impulse responses, it generates rooms, halls, plates, springs, and experimental spaces from calculated delay networks, early reflections, absorption curves, and saturation stages.

The plugin is unusually technical for a small independent release. Its engine combines an FWHT feedback matrix, prime-tuned delay lines, 10-band Valimaki-Liski absorption per FDN channel, Image Source Method early reflections, and ADAA saturation modes for shaping tails that can range from realistic halls to dense synthetic ambience.

Ambience also ships with 21 presets inspired by recognizable spaces and reverb types, including Abbey Road, Vienna Musikverein, Concertgebouw, Carnegie Hall, EMT 140 plates, spring tanks, studios, chambers, and cathedrals. Pro Mode exposes deeper controls such as per-band RT60 multipliers, tonal tilt, saturation type, and acoustic readouts for D50, C50, C80, and EDT.

This is best treated as a focused Windows reverb for producers who want character and control more than cross-platform convenience. OTODESK lists Ableton Live as the verified host, while the release ZIP contains a Windows VST3 build and presets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ambience a convolution reverb?

No. The developer and BPB both describe Ambience as an algorithmic reverb, with the late reverb generated by a 16-channel Feedback Delay Network and early reflections generated with the Image Source Method.

What makes the Pro Mode useful?

Pro Mode exposes controls that are usually hidden behind simple reverb macros. It lets users adjust per-band RT60 multipliers, tonal tilt, saturation type, and acoustic readouts for deeper room and tail shaping.

What kind of presets are included?

The release includes 21 presets inspired by famous studios, concert halls, plate reverbs, spring tanks, chambers, and cathedral-style spaces. Examples mentioned by the developer and BPB include Abbey Road, Vienna Musikverein, Concertgebouw, Carnegie Hall, and EMT 140-style plates.

Which hosts are verified?

OTODESK says the plugin is designed and tested on Windows with Ableton Live. Other DAWs may work, but they are not verified by the developer.
