Description
Drum8 is a sample-based drum ROMpler built by Audiolatry in collaboration with Cool WAV, delivering 40 drum kits and 320 original sounds in a lightweight package. The library covers kicks, snares, claps, toms, hi-hats (open and closed), percussion, cymbals, and FX across a range of modern genres including hip hop, trap, lo-fi, EDM, and pop.
Most of the samples were recorded from two hardware analog drum machines running through a Radial JDI direct box, Warm Audio ToneBeast Black preamp, and Antelope Audio Discrete 4 Synergy Core interface. Acoustic drum kits in the collection were produced using drum modeling software with extensive effect processing.
The interface uses an 8-pad layout mapped from C1 to G1, keeping MIDI programming fast and intuitive. Each pad has individual controls for volume, attack, pan, tune, and stereo channel output, while global settings provide a lowpass filter cutoff, room reverb, and master gain.
A built-in choke function prevents sound bleeding between pads, which is especially useful for programming realistic hi-hat patterns. Every sample in the library is 100% original and royalty-free, so there are no licensing concerns when using Drum8 in commercial productions.
Producers consistently praise its simplicity and the surprisingly detailed quality of sound, with the plugin taking up under 300 MB of disk space while remaining extremely light on CPU. Drum8 is a solid workhorse for anyone who needs quick, genre-ready drum kits without a complex setup.
