Key Features

  • Geometry-based reverb engine models acoustic spaces instead of depending on a conventional sampled IR pack
  • Four curated environments cover cathedral-scale ambience, royal-room depth, intimate cabinet-room presence, and cleaner modern architecture
  • Selectable listening positions help place a source inside each simulated space rather than only changing decay time
  • Windows and macOS builds are available in VST3 format, with AU and standalone options also listed for macOS
  • Focused Lite edition keeps the interface and library compact while still showing the core KonvIR simulated-acoustics approach

Description

KonvIR Lite is a simulated-acoustics reverb from LongTail Audio that creates space from modeled geometry instead of relying on a normal recorded impulse-response library. The plugin gives producers a compact taste of the KonvIR engine with four curated environments and selectable listening positions for shaping realistic depth.

The included spaces cover a broad range of room sizes and characters: Nantes Cathedral for huge tails, a royal music room for balanced ambience, an intimate cabinet room for tighter presence, and the Church of the Light for a cleaner architectural reverb. That makes it useful when a mix needs a believable place rather than another generic hall or plate preset.

The workflow is intentionally narrow compared with the paid Pro version, which expands the library to 15 environments, more than 100 listening positions, and immersive stereo based on virtual head simulation. Lite keeps the focus on fast placement, so it suits producers who want acoustic realism without building or managing a large custom IR collection.

As checked on May 1, 2026, the official page still lists KonvIR Lite at a $0 price, calls it a no-sign-up download, and exposes direct Windows and macOS installers. Those VST3 builds were mirrored for the SSA review worktree.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is KonvIR Lite different from a normal convolution reverb?

LongTail Audio says KonvIR builds virtual spaces from modeled geometry, then calculates how sound behaves in those spaces. Traditional convolution reverbs usually apply recorded impulse responses captured from real rooms or hardware.

What spaces are included in KonvIR Lite?

The Lite edition includes four environments: Nantes Cathedral, The Music Room, The Cabinet Room, and The Church of the Light. Each space is presented with its own acoustic character and selectable listening positions.

What does the Pro version add?

The official page says KonvIR Pro expands the collection to 15 environments and more than 100 listening positions. It also adds immersive stereo based on virtual head simulation for spatial perception.

Does KonvIR Lite require an account or email signup?

The official page title describes it as a no-sign-up download, and the download form returns direct installer links for the selected operating system and format. SSA mirrored the standard VST3 installers for Windows and macOS from that flow.
