Description

NoiseRverb is a convolution reverb plugin built from impulse responses recorded inside seven historic churches in Quito, Ecuador. Instead of synthetic room algorithms, it gives producers real architectural spaces captured from San Francisco, Basilica, Catedral, Compania, Guapulo, El Sagrario, and Santo Domingo.

The plugin is strongest when you want a source to feel like it belongs in a large stone interior. Ambient, cinematic, choral, experimental, and post-production sessions can use it for realistic depth, long natural tails, and a sense of place that is more specific than a generic hall preset.

Jhonatan Lopez developed NoiseRverb with engineers Anali Pinto and Fausto Espinoza for NoiseRoom UIO, using on-site measurements that were processed for real-time convolution. The public project page says it was presented at AES 2025 and built in C++ with the JUCE framework.

The interface keeps the workflow direct: choose one of the church impulse responses, set wet/dry balance, then shape the result with pre-delay, low-cut, tone, and gain controls. The current official download page provides separate Mac and Windows ZIP files with no checkout, activation, or email gate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of reverb is NoiseRverb?

NoiseRverb is a convolution reverb. It uses recorded impulse responses from real spaces rather than generating the whole reverb tail with a synthetic algorithm.

Which spaces are included?

The developer lists seven churches in Quito: San Francisco, Basilica, Catedral, Compania, Guapulo, El Sagrario, and Santo Domingo. Each one is presented as a selectable impulse-response space inside the plugin.

Does NoiseRverb need an account or activation?

No account, checkout, activation, or email gate was found in the current official download flow. The developer page links directly to separate ZIP files for Mac and Windows.

Is this mainly for subtle mix rooms or large spaces?

NoiseRverb is more about recognizable architectural ambience than tiny studio-room placement. Its best role is adding natural church depth, spacious tails, and location-specific character to musical or sound-design material.
