Description
Slate Digital's Free Virtual Mix Rack Modules package turns the VMR rack into a compact mixing toolkit built around gain staging, harmonic enhancement, and aggressive compression. It includes The Trimmer, Revival, and The Monster inside the same modular rack used by Slate's paid processors, so you can build quick insert chains without juggling separate plug-in windows.
The Trimmer handles practical level work with gain trim, metering, and phase reverse, while Revival adds broad analog-style weight and sheen with simple Shimmer and Thickness controls. The Monster covers the heavy-handed side of the set, taking inspiration from the classic 1176 all-buttons-in compression sound for smashed drums, parallel punch, and attitude-heavy loops.
This is not a full channel strip or a surgical utility suite, and the installer exposes the wider VMR ecosystem even if only the included modules are licensed. The upside is that the three modules cover useful everyday jobs: cleaning up input level, adding tonal density, and creating explosive compression from one rack-style interface.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which modules are included?
The included VMR modules are The Trimmer, Revival, and The Monster. Other VMR modules may appear in the installer or rack, but they require separate paid licenses.
Does this still require iLok?
Yes. The BPB report notes that the free modules now support iLok Machine License activation, which removes the need for an iLok USB dongle but still uses iLok licensing.
Should I install through Slate Digital Connect or the custom installer?
The custom VMR installer is the cleaner route if you only want these modules, because it lets you choose what to install. Slate Digital Connect can also install VMR, but the full ecosystem may show locked modules.
Is this a full Virtual Mix Rack bundle?
No. It is a small set of licensed VMR modules, not the complete Slate Digital VMR collection. Treat it as a focused rack for level control, tone enhancement, and character compression.
