TNT
Key Features
- Five distortion algorithms — clipper, overdrive 1, overdrive 2, distortion 1, and distortion 2 — each with a distinct harmonic character
- Dual-mode processing with single-band for focused saturation and multi-band for frequency-selective distortion across low and high bands
- Transparent 6 dB/octave crossover filter in multi-band mode lets you apply different drive types to each frequency band
- Ships as four VST components: single-band mono, single-band stereo, multi-band mono, and multi-band stereo
- Full parameter automation and MIDI learn (right-click any knob) for hands-on control in any DAW
- Zero-latency processing suitable for real-time tracking and live performance workflows
Description
TNT is a distortion and saturation plugin built around a custom clipping algorithm that delivers five distinct drive modes: clipper, two overdrives, and two distortion types. It ships as a bundle of four separate VST components, covering both single-band and multi-band processing in mono and stereo configurations.
The single-band version provides a straightforward drive path with a dedicated Tone knob for shaping the harmonic character after clipping. The multi-band version splits the signal through a transparent 6 dB/octave crossover filter, letting you apply different distortion algorithms to the low and high bands independently.
A Balance control levels the two bands before the final output stage, giving you precise control over the frequency blend.
Originally designed in 2009 as a private commission for processing drums, FX, and bass sounds, TNT was later released by its creator to mark 15 years of audio work under the Ourafilmes label. Users find it particularly effective on individual drum hits and loops in drum and bass productions, though it also handles polyphonic material like electric piano and guitar surprisingly well.
Both single-band and multi-band versions feature a retro-styled interface with a flippable back panel, full parameter automation, MIDI learn via right-click, and zero-latency processing. Modifier keys support fine-tuning (Shift) and resetting to default values (Ctrl).
TNT runs as a 32-bit VST plugin on Windows only. The download weighs in at approximately 15 MB and includes all four plugin components.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the single-band and multi-band versions of TNT?
The single-band version processes the entire signal through one distortion stage with a Tone knob for post-drive shaping. The multi-band version splits the audio at a user-set crossover point using a 6 dB/octave filter, allowing you to apply different distortion algorithms to the low and high bands separately with independent balance control.
Does TNT work on 64-bit DAWs?
TNT is a 32-bit VST plugin, so it will not load natively in 64-bit DAWs. You can use a 32-to-64-bit bridge like jBridge or the built-in bridging in some DAWs (such as older versions of Reaper) to run it in a 64-bit host.
What types of audio does TNT work best on?
TNT was originally designed for processing drums, FX, and bass sounds. Users report it excels on individual drum hits and loops in drum and bass productions. It also performs well on polyphonic material like electric piano and guitar, delivering musical distortion rather than harsh digital clipping.
How many plugins are included in the TNT download?
The download includes four separate VST plugins: single-band mono, single-band stereo, multi-band mono, and multi-band stereo. All four share the same distortion algorithms but differ in channel configuration and frequency processing mode.
