Description
Vatrica is a one-knob mix enhancer from Flame Sound that uses the processing core of its VATRA plugin. It combines several tone and dynamics controls into a fast way to add warmth, punch, weight and air to a mix.
Three modes offer different starting points. MSTR is designed for full mixes and buses, TAPE brings tape-style character to drums or other sources, and SUBS focuses on boosting and saturating low frequencies on bass, kicks and synths.
The Macro knob adjusts the intensity of a blend of five processing engines: Ignite, Heat, Punch, Weight and Air. The tradeoff for that speed is that you cannot adjust those engines independently as you can in the full VATRA plugin.
Input and output faders give you control over how hard the processing is driven and the final level. Their rails also act as stereo peak meters, and a power button bypasses the processing chain for comparison.
Try Vatrica on a mix bus when you want a quick change in density and tonal character, or switch to TAPE and SUBS for more targeted treatments. Its streamlined controls make it easy to audition a direction before deciding whether a more detailed processor is needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Vatrica differ from VATRA?
Vatrica combines five processing engines under one Macro control and three modes. VATRA provides individual access to those engines.
What do the three modes do?
MSTR is tuned for mixes and buses, TAPE emulates tape character, and SUBS focuses on low-frequency boost and saturation. The Macro knob controls the intensity in each mode.
How do the input and output faders affect the sound?
The input fader changes the level driving the processing, so increasing it can add saturation and density. The output fader sets the final level.
Does Vatrica require activation?
Flame Sound says there is no license key, activation or trial period. The free download is distributed through Gumroad checkout.
