Key Features

  • Neural Synthesis turns a text description into audio that can be edited and played in the sampler.
  • Import WAV, AIFF, FLAC, or MP3 files up to 20 MB and 10 seconds long.
  • Trim samples and shape playback with attack, release, brightness, detune, noise, quality, and formant controls.
  • Loop analysis compares timbre, volume, and vibrato to suggest up to three smoother sustain-loop candidates.
  • Root-note analysis detects a consistent pitch, corrects fine tuning on playback, and marks unpitched material when appropriate.
  • The optional small-speaker simulation models mobile-device resonances and voice-coil compression, with a bypassable 16 kHz mono mode.
  • The local sampler supports unlimited personal samples independently of Neural Synthesis credits.

Description

2G is a compact sampler instrument from Scrap Brain Audio that turns either generated audio or your own short files into playable keyboard sounds. Its early-2000s-phone design is not just visual: the optional small-speaker mode makes a deliberately narrow, 16 kHz mono character part of the instrument.

Neural Synthesis starts from a text description, then places the resulting audio in the sampler for editing and playback. Generation credits are separate from the core sampler, so saved sounds and imported samples remain usable when no credits are available.

For conventional sampling, 2G imports WAV, AIFF, FLAC, and MP3 files up to 20 MB and 10 seconds long. You can trim the sample, set attack and release, and change brightness, detune, noise, quality, and formant without changing the original source file.

The instrument also analyzes candidate loop points and can identify a root note when a consistent pitch is present. These tools make it suited to quick one-shot instruments, lofi sketches, and found-sound ideas that need less setup than a large multi-layer sampler.

The $0 plan includes the full local sampler and unlimited personal samples; only the text-to-audio feature consumes credits. The official delivery flow asks for an email address, then sends the license key and download links for the Windows and macOS builds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use 2G without generating sounds?

Yes. The developer says you can import, edit, and play your own audio files with no credit use and no Studio subscription. The $0 plan includes unlimited personal samples.

Which sample files can 2G import?

2G accepts WAV, AIFF, FLAC, and MP3 files. Imported files can be up to 20 MB and 10 seconds long, and the original source file remains untouched.

Does 2G need an internet connection?

An internet connection is required for Neural Synthesis and credit verification. Imported local samples can be edited and played offline.

What happens when I have no generation credits left?

Credits are only required to make new text-to-audio generations. You can continue using saved sounds and your own imported samples.
