Description

Broken Mini is a deliberately damaged Minimoog-style software instrument from Full Bucket Music. Instead of chasing a pristine clone, it turns missing controls, odd panel behavior, and unreliable-looking hardware into the main creative hook.

The sound still sits in familiar vintage monosynth territory, with three oscillator-style shaping, a ladder-filter character, and bass or lead tones that work for funk, electro, synthwave, and off-kilter sound design. The broken concept makes it more useful as a character synth than as a neutral bread-and-butter emulation.

Its quirks are part of the workflow: missing keys do not stop MIDI input, some controls behave strangely, and the interface encourages experimentation rather than preset browsing. If you want a polished Minimoog recreation, a commercial model will be easier, but Broken Mini is stronger when you want a playable vintage synth that feels slightly unstable.

The current official build is version 0.8.15 for macOS and Windows, with VST2, VST3, AU, CLAP, and AAX formats listed by the developer. For a focused SSA download entry, the hosted files use the standard Windows VST2/VST3 ZIP and macOS VST2/VST3/AU PKG builds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Broken Mini meant to be an accurate Minimoog replacement?

Not exactly. The appeal is that it behaves like a damaged or unreliable vintage synth, so it is better for character parts than strict hardware realism.

Do the missing keys on the interface limit what notes I can play?

No. BPB notes that the missing GUI keys do not mean missing MIDI notes, so you can still play the instrument from a controller or your DAW piano roll.

Does Broken Mini include presets?

Synth Anatomy reports that there are no presets. Treat it as a hands-on synth where the unusual controls and odd behavior are part of the sound-design process.

Which builds are mirrored here?

SSA mirrors the standard Windows VST2/VST3 ZIP and the macOS VST2/VST3/AU PKG. The developer page also offers separate CLAP and AAX downloads for users who need those plugin formats.
