Description

Glow Shrimp Limiter is a brickwall limiter from Glow Shrimp Software designed for straightforward peak control. Its minimal interface puts gain and ceiling controls up front, with selectable high-pass filters and a zoom setting alongside them.

The plugin grew out of the developer’s earlier Starfish Limiter for REAPER’s JSFX platform. The developer built the VST version with the aim of retaining the earlier limiter’s sound while reducing CPU use and avoiding a complicated set of controls.

Use the gain control to drive the limiter and the ceiling to set the desired output limit. The interface also offers a 344 Hz side high-pass filter and a 5 Hz main high-pass filter, both switchable; listen carefully to their effect on your material before leaving them enabled.

The developer offers version 23.4.1.0 at no charge after previously selling it commercially. Windows and Mac downloads are listed, but users have reported that the Mac archive contains aliases rather than usable plugin files, so Mac installation may not work.

The developer also notes that the Mac version may request a license and provides a code on the product page. KVR lists VST and VST3 formats, while the developer says there is currently no Linux version.
