POORTEC
Key Features
- Pultec-style low-frequency boost and cut workflow for broad bass shaping and the classic low-end trick.
- High-frequency boost and cut at the same frequency for fast top-end shaping without a full parametric EQ layout.
- Fairchild-style old line amp stage after the passive EQ adds extra analog color and transient character.
- TP gain-stage behavior can push the amplifier section hotter after unity calibration for more drive.
- Clean output control and large bypass button keep level matching and quick A/B checks straightforward.
- No-oversampling design keeps the plugin simple and lightweight.
- Resizable interface supports 50% to 200% GUI scaling from the bottom-right handle.
Description
POORTEC is an Analog Obsession passive program EQ inspired by the Pultec low-end trick, with a Fairchild-style old line amp placed after the EQ stage. It is built for broad tone shaping, low-end weight, high-frequency lift, and analog-style drive rather than narrow surgical correction.
The control set is deliberately simple: low-frequency boost and cut, high-frequency boost and cut, output, bypass, and an internal-style TP gain-stage behavior that can push the amplifier section hotter. That makes it useful when a vocal, bass, drum bus, synth, or full mix needs musical curve interaction plus a little extra transient color.
Analog Obsession lists version 1.0 with no oversampling and a resizable interface from 50% to 200%. The official page provides direct installers for macOS and Windows, with VST3, AU, and AAX Native/Audiosuite support depending on platform.
Compared with deeper Pultec collections, POORTEC is more focused and immediate. The tradeoff is that it does not try to cover every midrange or filter module, but its streamlined design makes the classic boost-and-attenuate workflow fast to dial in.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is POORTEC meant for surgical EQ work?
No. POORTEC is closer to a passive program EQ, so it is better for broad tonal moves, weight, sheen, and color than for removing narrow resonances or doing detailed corrective EQ.
What makes POORTEC different from a basic Pultec clone?
Analog Obsession describes it as a simple Pultec-style design without the SRPP gain stage and inductors, using a Fairchild-style old line amp after the passive EQ. That gain stage is a major part of its color-focused identity.
Does POORTEC include oversampling?
No. The official page explicitly says there is no oversampling, so users who are driving the plugin hard should listen for whether the resulting tone fits the source.
Why are there separate Windows installer and Windows zip downloads?
Analog Obsession provides both a Windows installer and a Windows zip on the official page. The review artifact hosts both in R2, but the product entry uses one Windows download button to keep the page simple.
