Description
Synthetic Vortices by SampleScience is an ambient ROMpler instrument built from 90 seamless loops recorded from the Ensoniq Fizmo and packaged as a plug-in. It focuses on eerie pads, alien beds, evolving drones, and science-fiction textures rather than a broad general-purpose synth palette.
The sound set is chronological, so browsing the presets moves through related loop variations that gradually shift in tone and motion. That makes it useful for building long-form atmospheres, documentary underscoring, game ambience, and experimental transitions when you want movement without programming every modulation from scratch.
The current v2 edition adds a simple performance engine around those source loops, including distortion, delay, chorus, reverb, a multi-LFO, highpass and lowpass filtering, amplitude range controls, and three voice modes. It keeps the workflow focused: choose a texture, shape the envelope and movement, then place it under a cue or electronic arrangement.
SampleScience distributes Synthetic Vortices through its official product page and verified Gumroad storefront with Windows and macOS variants. The Gumroad listing is published, in stock, priced at $0, and not marked as a limited sale.

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of sounds are included in Synthetic Vortices?
Synthetic Vortices is built around 90 ambient loops generated with the Ensoniq Fizmo. The sounds lean toward atmospheric pads, alien drones, evolving beds, and sci-fi textures rather than conventional basses, leads, or acoustic instruments.
Is Synthetic Vortices a synth or a sample instrument?
It is best treated as a sample-based ROMpler instrument. The source material is looped audio, but the plug-in adds filtering, modulation, effects, amplitude controls, and voice modes for shaping those loops inside a DAW.
Does the Gumroad page require an account or email checkout?
The official SampleScience Gumroad page is the current product storefront and starts the download flow from a $0 product listing. Because Gumroad handles fulfillment, users may still pass through Gumroad's checkout flow before receiving the selected Windows or macOS files.
What changed compared with older listings?
Older directory and review pages list the original release with room reverb and earlier macOS notes. The current SampleScience and Gumroad pages identify the v2 edition with distortion, delay, chorus, reverb, Windows 8.1/10/11, macOS 10.12 and up, and 64-bit VST/VST3/AU host requirements.
